Holy Moly we’re on the cover!

Trend forecaster and top stylist Monique van der Reijden got all the freedom to design a custom made Marmoleum floor by Forbo, which was used for the trend production Holy Moly for the magazine Elle Decoration. The floor on the cover of the big October/November issue shows that a XXL graphic design a dynamic base is for a luxurious interior. This sacral atmosphere comes to life in the Brutal décor in the Thomaskerk in Amsterdam.

Monumental shapes of iconic design classics merge with new design from young upcoming designs from all over the world. The international feel from this interior is a symbol of this idea. Nowadays we see the difference between real or fake no longer, so we believe in the strength of a universal design where collaboration, sustainability and free creation is seen as the basis.

MY HOME IS MY CHURCH

The interior as spiritual place to turn to yourself. A sacral atmosphere with impressive and monumental shapes. The composition of colours and materials is more modest with concrete, wood, stone, glass optics as a base and trendy accents as brique and nude. The Thomaskerk in Amsterdam is the inspirational décor for the newest trend in the interior world. We see the Brutal architecture translated to design objects square contours, geometric shapes and repetition. This building, designed by Karel Sijmons (1908-1989), is seen as a highlight from the Dutch church architecture after 1945 and is clearly inspired by the style of the Swiss French architect Le Corbusier (1887-1965). The handmade wallpaper by Callico Wallpaper New York softens the atmosphere with its gold ‘dripping’.

Styling tip for your floor

The graphic pattern of this floor design in this interior works because of the natural colours and structures. The created blend is in nature also a known combination: we see wood, natural stone, sand and clay in most of the landscapes. The dessin of the floor is inspired by the Romanesque architecture, where the shape of a famous Roman arch a new trend is.

Top design

The trend production of Elle Decoration is famous for their unpredictable combinations of design furniture, floor, wall and window decoration, accessories and lighting. In the trend Holy Moly are special novelties shown as the tapestry from cc Tapis designed by Studio Pepe, which also can be used as a mirror. Or the unusual accessories made of marble, brass and ceramics. You can easily store a magazine in the striking pouf by Artifort, but at the same time is it a real artwork because of its shape.

Behind the scenes at Elle Decoration: Unique floor design with Marmoleum

Even in an empty room is the Marmoleum floor enough decoration to create a sense of atmosphere and luxe. The reflection of the sunlight almost feels out of this world. The contrast between the smooth floor and the rough structure of the stone wall make the image more exciting, more ‘brute’! It is a real eye-opener that you can combine six different kinds of Marmoleum in one floor. Here you can find the exact color numbers

    Durable

In this trend the durable character of the chosen design objects is very important. The environmentally friendly production, material use and reuse are a point of focus. The Marmoleum floor by Forbo is for example the first CO2 neutral floor on this planet because it is made from renewable natural resources like linseed oil, resin, wood flour and limestone. Important environmental characteristics like Der Blaue Engel and Swan provide evidence that these floors belong to the most durable.
