The new Depot boijmans by beuningen contains 40,000 interesting design objects. An excellent location to show museum-worthy and cheerful collectible design
DEPOT BOIJMANS BY BEUNINGEN
Depot Boijmans By Beuningen is the first art and design depot in the world that is accessible to visitors. Apart from compartments full of artistic treasures, it has four professional restaurant workshops, two cinema cabins, an educational area, a cinema room and a restaurant with roof terrace. The depot has more than 151.000 objects, of which 40.000 fall under the heading design; from what used to be called crafts to modern works. The building in which the depot is located can easily be called a new Rotterdam icon. Architectural firm MVRDV designed a bowl-shaped building with a mirrored facade, with 75 birch trees on the roof.
